Kete Whakairo - Parāone and Natural Harakeke

The Harakeke (flax) was hand-harvested in Taupō and prepared for weaving. Dipped in Ngawha springs and softened with hāpine action. This Kete Whakairo (patterned kete) features Muka (prepared fibre of Harakeke) handles, which were also hand-harvested from Harakeke within Taupō. The Whenu (strips of flax) is a mixture of hand-dyed Parāone (brown) Harakeke and natural Harakeke, creating this beautiful, one-of-a-kind Taonga.
